The Spirits at Seelbach Hotel in Kentucky

Yes we research haunted locations in and around our home state of Tennessee. Our main website is http://www.paranormalspectrum.com Be sure to check us out!

You can take a ghost tour and visit the Seelbach Hotel in Louisville, KY while learning about the spooky happenings at the hotel and hear about the local neighboring ghost legends. Or why not stay a night in this lovely, historic hotel? You most likely will not be disappointed.  Be careful, many have seen reflections in the mirrors that were not their own. Some well known spirits still hanging out are Patricia Wilson who awaited her husband’s arrival at the hotel long ago to discover he was killed in an automobile accident. Her body was later found in the elevator shaft clad in a blue dress after falling ten stories. Was it suicide or murder? A few people have seen such a female apparition in a long blue chiffon dress, entering the elevator then simply vanishing – Even after the doors are closed.

Or maybe you will be like the guests who were awakened to the TV turning on by itself in the wee morning hours.  There is also the apparition of an older man who is keen on turning the air conditioner down low in an effort to awaken the guests to freezing temperatures. There has also been the unknown “unearthly” visitor of an old woman in ragged clothing swooshing by.

On our overnight visit we did not hear or see anything out of the ordinary. We took lots of pictures, a good amount of video and digital voice recordings in hopes of capturing an EVP. We left the digital voice recorder in our room for hours in our absence.  We were unable to verify that this location is haunted. But it is our understanding that the sightings of spirits are infrequent, yet they do happen. Especially on the 8th and 10th floors.

We visited The Rocky Top Inn in Gatlinburg, TN, searching for paranormal influences because the property was home to a vicious, heinous crime. We also took the Gatlinburg Ghost Tour and The Rocky Top Inn was one of the stops in the tour.  Though the Gatlinburg Ghost Tour weaves an interesting story about the hauntings at this small, older motel, many members of the motel’s staff do not appreciate people checking the location for “ghosts”. We rented a room and stayed the night near where the murders occurred. We captured “interesting” female sound(s) during one of our digital voice recording sessions and have shared the video on YouTube and on our parent website www.paranormalspectrum.com.

Brief History: Two employees were brutally murdered in a back office at the Rocky Top Village Inn. According to locals and tourists of this location their spirits are sometimes seen in the parking lot and by the fountain. In fact, in the lobby of the motel there is a photo with some colorful anomalies near the fountain hanging up on a post, proclaiming to be the ghost at the fountain.  Unexplained screams are heard as well. This would be the most chilling part of the legend: To hear screams from two innocent people as the killers stabbed them multiple times.  The killings were of a perverse nature, it was simply overkill.

As for the ghosts. Are there really sightings of the guard roaming the parking lot still checking on the cars of the guests of the motel? Is there an apparition of the female that often visits the fountain from time to time? Can screams be heard outside the walls of the motel’s office on certain nights? Would you want to hear it if this proved to be true?
We didn’t find any evidence to support the claims that Rocky Top Inn is haunted. We did pick up the sounds of a female either sneezing, screaming or moaning loudly repeatedly from our balcony as we took digital voice recordings and used our video camera. But we can’t say with any definition that it was anything other than a guest in another room – either having a sneezing fit or maybe having more than that. We were at a motel, after all, so it seems to me that any noises heard would be easily dismissed as noises from guests renting a room.

Conclusion: Our EMF readings were normal, our pictures at the motel were normal. We can’t confirm this haunting. If you have had an experience at this motel, or know more about it than what is shared here, feel free to comment. We appreciate you.

The Read House Hotel – Chattanooga, TN may be haunted by many spirits.

(This page is used in conjunction with our main website http://www.paranormalspectrum.com)

Just type in “haunted Tennessee hotels” in your search browser and you will most likely find The Read House – or Sheraton Inn in Chattanooga, formerly The Crutchfield House built in 1847.

You will probably also learn that Room 311 is the most haunted room in the place. This is only partly true. The original room 311 has been moved or sealed, depending on who you ask. The desk clerk told us that the current room 311 is part of the original room where the murder of a woman almost beheaded by a lonely soldier in the bathroom happened, but  it is the bathroom where the murder occurred that actually is not in any room you can rent, it is between the walls, sealed from public access.

None the less, MANY guests and staff have seen shadowy apparitions, been awakened in the night by phantom hands, and captured odd anomalies in photographs and videos. In fact, a lot of guests leave early due to the haunting presence of a female spirit.

But the fact is, there are more spirits roaming the halls in the old part of The Read House Hotel. How can I be so sure? Because of our personal experiences there while researching the legend. I have posted our experiences everywhere I can think of on the web but visit our main website linked above for the full story on our Haunted Page tab! You should rent this room yourself and see if you can experience something spooky!

This Hotel is in Wartrace, TN:

The historic Walking Horse Hotel was constructed in 1917 and is recognized as the birthplace of the famous  Tennessee Walking Horse. Originally built by Jesse and Nora Overall, Hotel Overall was the original name. The hotel was purchased in 1938 by Floyd and Olive Carothers. They changed the name to Floyd’s Walking Horse Hotel. Floyd Carothers, famous for training Strolling Jim, the first walking horse world champion, has haunted the historic building in years past according to the visitors and staff who have seen him strolling the halls. Carothers and his wife Olive operated the hotel from 1933 until 1958. Some say that after his wife’s death that his spirit hasn’t returned, and that he finally went o rest in the great beyond. Yet when we visited the hotel for a 4 hour investigation, most of our experiences occurred only when we started speaking out to Floyd. So does Floyd Carothers return from time to time to see how the old place is thriving? Or is there an imprint upon the structure itself that produces brief glimpses of a proud owner and horse trainer from a time gone by?

Rich with history, the three story hotel was almost condemned. Thankfully, love and dedication  saved this wonderful venue.  We enjoyed our visit to the hotel and plan to return. We can thank  Joe Peters who bought the hotel in 2007 for his wife of 26 years, Chais. Understand that Chais had always enjoyed her husband’s music as he had played in a  band. Her love of music was a common bond the couple shared.  Chais became enamored with the old hotel and often expressed her desire to see beyond its locked doors, she even requested a ride to the hotel after awakening from a morphine induced coma after a long battle with cancer. She passed away the next month, six months after the diagnosis. Four months later Peters purchased the hotel with a vision of bringing it back to life using Chais’s spirit as his guide. Renovations on the ground floor began in August 2007. The hotel has been investigated by different teams of paranormal investigators, and it has been declared haunted. This would come as no surprise for the locals. For decades Wartrace residents have reported seeing dark shadows, unexplained noises & eerie voices coming from inside .The yarns included eerie feelings, doors opening and closing without explanation to those observing full scale apparitions. Most of the ghost stories are simply figments of active imaginations. Yet it is possible that there are many spirits roaming the halls of this site. There is even a rumor of malnourished and sickly confederate war  prisoners set free after the civil war, many of them  died in the hotel shortly after their release. The sounds of men running and gunfire are sometimes heard.

When we arrived we were told about the ghosts of The Walking Horse Inn. Of course Floyd Carothers was mentioned, and people have also experienced hearing footsteps on the floor above them, which would be the 2nd floor. Seeing shadows, hearing furniture moving. Someone has a picture of a phantom guitar player.

We caught a few possible EVP’s, of course Orbs, and unexplained light anomalies in our photographs & videos. It was enough to intrigue us to schedule a return visit. But on the day we investigated there were too many people, too much outside noise from the road construction very near, and we couldn’t go everywhere we wanted, because of the other teams taking turns. This contaminated much of our evidence and made it difficult to distinguish between their noises and possibly something more.

One that night we three groups rotated between the basement and the Music Hall and the 2nd or 3rd floor. Footsteps and bangs had to be dismissed and some voices were dismissed, too. But with our programs and electronic tools we could salvage some evidence which we will present on our YouTube channel “instantescape” and our paranormal website www.paranormalspectrum.com
